This recipe makes a wonderful combo for rice specifically. Goes well with sambar and rasam . I learned this recipe after coming here.. whenever I feel very tired I make this podi and it's a very nice variation from the regular podimas we use to make at home.. Try it and njoy ..

Plantain -- 2 nos.
Salt -- to taste
Oil --1 tbsp
Garlic pods -- julienned -- 2 nos.
For making Podi /Powder :
Dry red chilly --3 nos. (acc to taste)
Thuvar dhal /Thoor dal -- 1 tsp
Urad dal -- 1 tsp
Mustard seeds -- 1 tsp
Hing -- a pinch
Cut the whole plantain into halves and boil it in water (adding half the salt ) till they are tender. Cook the plantain with their jackets/ skin .
Remove the jackets once it's cooked and cooled. Cut the plantain to small chunks like cubes and make it ready.Meantime ,take a small pan and dry roast all the ingredients given. Grind it into fine powder using a mixie. Pour oil in a pan and heat it. Add the juilenned gralic and saute well. Add the podi /Powder , salt to the medium hot oil and scald it. Now add the plantain cubes and coat every cube with the podi. Keep this plantain podi in low for 2 to 3 minutes and switch off.. Finally add the coriander leaves n serve.
