Paal Pongal(Vellai Pongal)

This pongal may sounds simple but it tastes heavenly .. I love everytime my mom makes it. My mom would always say this pongal better goes with pongal sambar and esp with rasam.. O yeah, I agree , no doubt abt that.. And this is a good one for Neivedyam as well....




Ingredients :

Sona masoori rice -- 1 cup
Water -- 3 1/2 cups
Milk -- 1 cup
Salt -- to taste

To garnish :

Fresh curd -- 1 tbsp
   or
Freshly prepared butter -- 1 tbsp


Method :

Using pressure cooker :

Soak the rice in water for 10 to 15 minutes. In a pressure cooker add the water + milk , rice and salt . Mix it well. Cook for 3 whistles. When done , garnish  it with a tbsp of butter /yoghurt  and offer to God..

Normal Method :

Take a pot and fill with water + milk ,salt and boil .. Add the soaked rice and cook until the rice fall apart /mashed. Garnish it with butter / yoghurt and offer to God..
