Dal Methi Curry

Ingredients :

Moong dhal / Thuvar dal -- ech 1/4 cup
Methi leaves -- 1 cup
Red chilli powder -- 1/2 tsp
Tamarind pulp -- 1 tsp
Salt -- to taste
Turmeric powder -- a pinch

For seasoning :

Onion -- very finely chopped -- 1/4 cup
Oil -- 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds -- 1 tsp
Urad dal -- for seasoning -- 1/2 tsp (optional)
Curry leaves -- 1 sprig

Method :
Soak both the dhals for 10 minutes and pressure cook it for 3 to 4 whistles until it's all mashed.  Heat a kadai and add the oil. Do the seasoning with mustard seeds,curry leaves and urad dal. Add the onions and fry until its translucent. Now add the methi leaves and scald it. Do not stir fry it, will taste bitter if u do so.. Add a cup of water,red chilli powder,turmeric powder and salt and let it cook for few minutes. It will take minimum 5 mts to cook. Now add the tamarind pulp and mix well. Let them also boil for may b a minute or so. Finally add the dhal and combine well. Let this stand in the heat for a minute or so for blending with the other ingredients.. and switch off..
