Cauliflower -- 1 no.
Coconut -- 3 tbsp
Cumin seeds -- 1/2 tsp + 1/2 tsp
Green chilly -- 3 to 4 (+ r --)
Mustard seeds -- 1/2 tsp
Moong dhal -- 1 1/2 tbsp
Garlic pods -- 2 to 3 (depends on size)
Curry leaves -- 1 sprig
Hing -- a pinch
oil -- u may use coconut or vegetable oil ..
Cut the cauliflower into florets. Just immerse in not so hot water for minute or two and remove it. Grind coconut,green chilly,cumin seeds into a slighly coarse paste and keep it aside. Soak the moond dhal for min 5 to 6 minute and microwave it for a minute. Heat a wide kadai and do the seasoning. Add the mustard seeds when the oil is hot and wait till it sizzles. Now dump in the cumin seeds, curry leaves, hing and saute . Do not burn it. Add the half cooked moong dhal and saute. Throw in the coconut paste and saute till it combines with the seasoning. Now add the cauliflower and mix well. make sure the masala gets coated everywhere. U may need a little bit of water to cook the cauliflower. May be add a 1/3 cup of water. Stir inbetween. It should anytime between 5 to 7 minutes to cook. Garinsh it with cilantro and serve. It goes well with kara kulambu, puli kulambu.. A good combination for roti too..
